Donald Holtz (84,132) indicated earlier this year that he would be stepping down from his position on the board due to new and challenging work obligations. We are very grateful to Donald for his dedication to the board so far and of course wish him much success in these next steps! Our family association is therefore looking for a new general board member. Are you curious about what the board does exactly and whether this role might be something you'd like to pursue as a volunteer? Send an email to Jolanda (vfsalm@gmail.com) or a message to Paul (+31 647330338).
|
In addition, we are also looking for family members who are willing to take on part of the organization of the Family Weekend 2025. Read more about it below!
|
For now, we wish you a wonderful summer and hope to see you in September at the IJzeren Man in Vught.

|
Sunny regards from the board,

Paul (118,112), Jolanda (127,28), Esther (84,1111), Carlos (127,211), Dirk Jan (92,223), and Nina (83,1231)

Obituaries
We also received sad news. Dirk Roeland (132,23) passed away in October last year. Regrettably, we have not reported this in a newsletter before. In February this year, Dicky Ringelberg-Giesen (89,22) passed away. The obituaries and contact information for condolences can be found on the website.

General board member wanted!

We are urgently looking for family members to join the organizing committee for the Family Weekend 2025 (September 20 and 21). We have found a wonderful location, but we are looking for people to join the activities, food and drink, and accommodation committees. Would you like to be involved in the organization, in either a small or large role? Let us know by sending an email to vfsalm@gmail.com.

From the archive
When you search for "vacation" or "leave," you won't quickly find anything in the digital archive. Summer vacations only began around 1850, but our ancestors were already traveling a lot. To try their luck. To face the unknown.
|
By searching for "travel or passport," you can find numerous document numbers in the digital archive. "Journey to Batavia" (document number 278) describes the long voyage by sailing ship "Anne and Elise" of Abraham Salm and his family. How long were they on the way? The wind, the sea, life on board, for months on end...
