Dear Abonnee,

A family is always evolving, but change isn't always easy. In the past few months, we have lost two beloved family members: Marianne Swaning-Holtz (84,111) and Paula Salm (120,2). We wish their loved ones much strength in the coming time.

The radiant family day of last year is now a while ago. You could admire the family photo on the Christmas card, but if you want to zoom in on your face, you can now also view it in high resolution on the website.

Meanwhile, a new organizing committee for the family day in 2024 is already busy: Yveline Nilsen (113,3111), Anna Cuny (127,283), Karijn Salm (89,11), Luka Nielsen (112,251). Have you already marked Sunday September 22, in your agenda? We hope to see you then at the IJzeren Man in Vught.

Furthermore, we are very pleased that Roel Oosterwijk (117,222) wants to become treasurer in the board starting from September. Roel is already working with Esther to learn about this important board task, so that he can officially take over from Esther with the approval of the members during the general meeting.

With warm regards from the board,

Paul (118,112), Jolanda (127,28), Esther (84,1111), Carlos (127,211), Donald (84,132), Dirk Jan (92,223), and Nina (83,1231)

    From the archive

It's the mid-19th century, wide black, long skirts and high hats, sailing ships from all corners docking in Amsterdam. Here, you can meet Petronella (Peet) Welzing or Hoyer, born in Elmina, Gold Coast. As a toddler, she ended up with family in Zwolle. Later, she married 'our' Abraham Salm (88), the well-known architect. She was Abraham's first great love, and there is much known about her in photos and writings. There's plenty on the internet about her and her family (Hoyer-Welzing) to write a book about. So Peet remains alive in our family through these archived memories.
